The post office just recently put these stamps out donning the image of 4 cowboys of the silver screen,including my favorite, Roy Rogers. The letters we’ve been getting lately have occasionally had these on em. I’m tellin ya, I get more excited about the stamp then the letter!

BALTIMORE GOT DORKED! So, as I may have mentioned before, we have been selling issues in Baltimore at Atomic Books. Unfortunately, our timing landed us in a bum spot. As soon as they got our issues, their site went down (…our fault?).

So this afternoon, Laura and I decided to check if their site was back up. Not only was their new online establishment real sharp and ritzy, but it also held a plesant surprise! As you can see from the image above, it would seem that Baltimore has taken a liking to us ol’ Dorks!

ISSUE 1 RELEASE PARTY! That’s right guys and gals! Though the first issue has been out for about a month already, it’s finally time to celebrate! Our good pal of pals Mark Pickerel has lent us his fine establishment, Damaged Goods, to hold our little shindig in! There’ll be groovy tunes hand-selected by yours truly, pretty girls, dashing gents, lots and lots of cool stuff to buy (pulp novels, vintage nudie mags, records, clothes…oh, and our rag!), and did I mention free beer??? while supplies last, that is.

So, I know it’s short notice, but tomorrow (August 1st) is the Northwest Record & CD Show. This cannot be missed! If you live in Seattle, make your way tomorrow morning to the Seattle Center and find the Shaw-Fidalgo room. Admission is $3 and the hours are 10 am to 5 pm. CHICAGO DOES THE DORK! The fine folks at Quimby’s in Chicago have been not only kind enough to carry our zine, but they also gave us a really great write-up to go with the addition of us to their fine roster of publications! Here’s what they had to say:

“Rock ‘n Roll in the take-it-back-to-yer-Chuck-Berry-45-singles sense of the term. Get Dorked turns out to have purist taste in both rollicking, intuitive garage-y sounds and traditional fanzine formating, and it feels more like a cool drink of fresh water than any kind of nostalgia re-tread. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RON ASHETON! (July 17th, 1948 – January 6th, 2009).

So, I figured I could either whip up some little bio and talk about how Ron Asheton and his work in the legendary Stooges was some of the most profound guitar work in rock ‘n’ roll history…or I could opt for something more in the spirit of the Stooges. Something direct and exciting and just simply write:

raw fucking power.

yeah, that felt like the right thing to do.
