Will the nasty neighbor of yours ever clean up her dog’s poop in your yard? Well, now is your time for answers! SEND ALL QUESTIONS TO: email@example.com.
AGILE, MOBILE, AND HOSTILE: A YEAR WITH ANDRE WILLIAMS has finally made it’s way to homes across America! This peek into the life of Mr. Rhythm came out a while back and I’ve been itchin’ to see it. TONIGHT! On the anniversary of Ron Haydock’s death and the beginning of Elvis Week, we’ll be celebrating the release of rock ‘n’ roll’s new editorial, GET DORKED! The keen zine for every teen! We’ll be partying from 6pm to 9pm at Damaged Goods so make your way down and party with us! Oh…and free beer! (while supplies last, of course).
BALTIMORE GOT DORKED! So, as I may have mentioned before, we have been selling issues in Baltimore at Atomic Books. Unfortunately, our timing landed us in a bum spot. As soon as they got our issues, their site went down (…our fault?).
So this afternoon, Laura and I decided to check if their site was back up. Not only was their new online establishment real sharp and ritzy, but it also held a plesant surprise! As you can see from the image above, it would seem that Baltimore has taken a liking to us ol’ Dorks!
So if you bought an issue from Atomic Books, thank you! We’ll send some more out as soon as we can!
'TIL THE BREAK OF DAWN WITH ICHIBAN! Our pal Debbie D was kind enough to post about us on the Rock ‘n’ Soul Ichiban blog! It’s an honor to be featured on the blog since we’ve been big listeners of the Ichiban program for some time. Zip and flip over to the Ichiban blog and dig the kind words. Thanks Debbie!
Exibitchin’: Garage and Soul Night at the EMP tonight! We’ll be there cuttin’ a rug and handin’ out flyers for the Dorked party next week. Come on by!
ISSUE 1 RELEASE PARTY! That’s right guys and gals! Though the first issue has been out for about a month already, it’s finally time to celebrate! Our good pal of pals Mark Pickerel has lent us his fine establishment, Damaged Goods, to hold our little shindig in! There’ll be groovy tunes hand-selected by yours truly, pretty girls, dashing gents, lots and lots of cool stuff to buy (pulp novels, vintage nudie mags, records, clothes…oh, and our rag!), and did I mention free beer??? while supplies last, that is.
So don’t be a rube, cube! Make your way out next friday and have a ball! We promise you won’t regret it.
THE NORTHWEST RECORD & CD SHOW!
So, I know it’s short notice, but tomorrow (August 1st) is the Northwest Record & CD Show. This cannot be missed! If you live in Seattle, make your way tomorrow morning to the Seattle Center and find the Shaw-Fidalgo room. Admission is $3 and the hours are 10 am to 5 pm. Come dig through the crates and find some primo pressings! I’ll also be there so come find me and maybe I’ll even sell ya a copy of Get Dorked!
CHICAGO DOES THE DORK! The fine folks at Quimby’s in Chicago have been not only kind enough to carry our zine, but they also gave us a really great write-up to go with the addition of us to their fine roster of publications! Here’s what they had to say:
“Rock ‘n Roll in the take-it-back-to-yer-Chuck-Berry-45-singles sense of the term. Get Dorked turns out to have purist taste in both rollicking, intuitive garage-y sounds and traditional fanzine formating, and it feels more like a cool drink of fresh water than any kind of nostalgia re-tread. After all, to paraphrase their intro, what the fuck are the Black Eyed Peas doing in any “Best Rock N Roll of 2010” list? Light for the musical end times, friends. -EF”
Can you tell I’m blushing??? That E.F. is sure a swell guy or gal! Very groovy to have such kind words said. I guess this means no more phoning-in bomb threats to try and get em to sell the zine! Who knew that kindness is virtue is the way to go in business?
So if you’re in the Chi-town area or just wanna buy your copy of Get Dorked while also purchasing your 17 issues of Pleasure Bound or your copy of Bunny Yeager’s Pin Up Girls of the 1950s, then CLICK THIS AND BUY ISSUE #1 HERE!
